Understanding the role of infectious disease in cancer
We aim to understand the role of malaria and EBV in the role of endemic Burkitt lymphoma and other cancers. We are alos interested in viral associated cancers such as cervical cancer linked to HPV. Much of this work is focused in Western Kenay in collaboration with the Moormann lab at UMass Chan and AMPATH consortium.
The Bailey lab is also part of a multi-institutional consortium composed of the labs of Dr. Ann Moormann from the University of Massachusetts, Dr. Micah Luftig from Duke University, and Dr. Christian Münz from the University of Zürich. Together, our labs aim to further elucidate the complex relationship between Plasmodium falciparum and EBV.
